The grinder is composed of wood with a metal hopper and a ceramic grinder. Coffee beans are ground into a small drawer that slides out. The bottom of the grinder has scratch-resistant pads; the grinder itself sits about 7" tall (measured to the top of the handle). Even makes for charming decoration when not in use!
