Sushi Basic History
Originated in China as fermented fish with rice and salt called Narezushi
Narezushi was introduced to Japan in 300AD
Evolved to fermenting with vinegar 14th century
Sushi Rice Prep
What you need
Pyrex casserole dish
Rice paddle or sturdy wood spatula
Mix
1/2 cup Rice vinegar
2 teaspoons Sugar
Dash of salt
2 cups water
Prep Rice
Distribute rice across Pyrex dish to help cool rice
Ladle in ½ cup of the vinegar/water mixture
Move paddle through the rice in vertical strokes
Avoid mushing rice
Repeat applying vinegar/water mixture and using rice paddle until rice is separated well
Tools Needed
Sushi roll mat
Plastic wrap
Rice prepped with sushi rice vinegar, salt, water & sugar
Nori sheet (Roasted seaweed sheet)
Salmon Sashimi, Cucumber, Avocado, Crab, Cream Cheese
Sesame Seeds
Cup of water
