A vibrant take on Japanese recipes, this donabe rice dish blends sweet, savory, and spicy layers. Tender chicken thighs marinated in tōbanjan, soy, mirin, and sesame oil steam together with rice, corn, carrots, Napa cabbage, and pineapple. The rice absorbs a lightly sweet sesame-pineapple broth, then is finished with a drizzle of soy–sesame–pineapple sauce and a burst of freshness from snap peas and red bell pepper. A warm, balanced meal that celebrates color, comfort, and Japanese home cooking.
